Common Noises Made Uncommon

Alex Charles always puts out interesting work and his most recent release
Study for Paper, Shortwave Radio, Plastic, and Metal (Three Legs Duck) is no exception. Charles, formerly of Thee Moths, takes some paper, an aluminum can, bells wrapped in a plastic bag, and shortwave radio and brings them together in an improvised noise musical. Study is an apt description for this short work that extracts basic noise from the objects mentioned above and places them in an almost linear context. Whether it is the ripping of paper, the crinkling of a soda can, or a shortwave radio drifting in and out, there is a sonic compatibility that Charles fleshes out from these noises.
