One of the big issues of experimental music and Creative Commons music in general is the lack of a producer to tell the musician that enough is enough. Far too many times tracks go on foh-ev-ah. This time with Josh Varnedore’s Mantaka (Absense of Wax) the problem is exactly the opposite. Vardnedore’s marvelous track comes in at only 2 minutes and 30 seconds which leaves me thirsting for more. Maybe that’s the point. The track is an unreal electronic study that drops the comfort of ambient music and brings us more into a trance-like listening.
